Climbing to the crater
Each year nearly 20,000 tourists from all over the world come to see this active volcanic crater, eager to meet the challenge of climbing to the summit of the volcano to see the magma rising from deep within the earth, and to marvel at the landscape that features 7 surrounding lakes, mountains and other volcanoes. It is noteworthy that this expedition takes approximately 7 hours, and is suitable for anyone over 14 years old in good physical condition. In the city there are several agencies that offer tours to the top of the volcano.
Winter and Spring Sports
Only 19 km from the city, on the slopes of the Villarrica volcano, there is a ski resort with has seven lifts and a variety of tracks suitable for beginners through to professionals. Its canyons provide perfect settings for snowboarding. The site also has an inn and restaurant. In the center of Pucon there is a wide range of rental equipment available, and other services associated with snow sports. You can also go 'off-piste randonne' in various sectors of the community, especially in winter and spring. Visitors are advised to avail themselves of the advice of the experienced instructors in the area.
River Trancura Rapids
This River is known as the starting point for Rafting, hydro and kayaking adventures. The rafting section is located 14 km. east of Pucon, it is famous for its grade 4 decline difficulties for the thrill seekers, and grade 3 adventures for the whole family.
Canopy (Zip line)
Between forest and rivers there are canopy- zip line circuits that comply with all safety regulations, and provide a safe and thrilling experience. There are 7 canopy-zip line circuits located in different sites, and all are suitable for the whole family.
Thermal Energy of the Earth
Among the mountain ranges, which feature many active volcanoes, there is a number of thermal fields emanating from the depths of the earth, with temperatures ranging from 30° to 45° Celsius. The waters are rich in minerals and provide refreshment and renewal after adventurous activities - they re-energize the system and help you stay healthy naturally. Any of these thermal centers are only a 30 minute car ride away from Pucon.
